I’ll be honest with you; I don’t play PC games so much. I don’t own a PS3 or an Xbox either. But there are certain games that just draw my attention and I cannot refuse to get my hands on them! Sid Meier’s Civilization Series is that one game which I will play forever! And this September the world is going to stand witness to The Dawn of Civilization 5.
I was introduced to Civilization 1 by my 12 year old cousin several years back, which then looked like Facebook’s Farmville… even worse! But when Civilization 3 released I was glued! Undoubtedly it was the Best Strategy Game I’ve ever played beating Command and Conquer, Starcraft, SimCity etc. Actually, I don’t think Civilization can be compared to any of these games… it stands in a class of its own! Yes, its slow paced and its not the perfect game to play an immediate battle with friends, but Civilization 5 is coming to prove all that wrong! Civilization 5 claims to be the finest Civilization game ever developed and is promising to be the best strategy game EVER! Here are some of its features that its boasts of:
- Ultra realistic graphics, art décor, better menus and icons, casual and in-depth game-play options
- Custom music score. There are soundtracks for four world regions for both war and peace.
- More polish and quality added to every aspect of the game to please its millions of fans. No to forget… its style!
- The Lead Artist of the team, Mr. Dorian Newcomb said that playing through history could be boring (which was THE complaint for impatient gamers) and can be depressing if its attacked with bad news during game play. Thus for Civilization 5 they have taken a much more optimistic approach! That’s more I like it!
- Players can play entire games with their friends on the local network, internet, they share scenarios, brag about their scores and achievements, visit top fan sites… all this without leaving the game!!!
- The best thing here is the added focus on Modding. For those who don’t know, Modding is game slang for modification where the basic game can be modified by users for a totally new gaming experience. The Firaxis Modding and Tools Programmers said that the Civilization Community are the driving force behind all these changes and that they have brought Modding to the forefront of the Civilization experience.
