In my previous post ‘Windows Live Write. Truly the Best.’ I had mentioned that Live Write has a good collections of plug-ins that can ease your daily posting habits. These are some of my favourite ones and I think most of you will find them useful too:
1. Tag Generator: If you are using Windows Live Write and if you don’t have this tool… then you’re crazy! It generates all the tags that is required as per the content in you post. You can also delete them, edit them or add more tags if need be. It generates tags for Wordpress and Blogger as well.
2. Find & Replace: I know it’s actually stupid NOT to have a Find & Replace option in an application which is all about writing. Anyways, this plug-in will help you out in just that.
3. Insert Video: This is really cool. Nothing out of the blue, but just click this plug-in, enter the url, and the video is completely embedded in your post. You can also only add the image and link it. If you run a video blog, then this is what you must install first!
4. Facebook Like Button and Tweet Button: You may think this is very necessary for your blog. But frankly its absolutely not. For WordPress, the Like and Tweet buttons are automatically included in the Extras section of your dashboard. This will add those buttons. Where as for blogger, you can just copy the code from millions of sources from the net and add it to your current theme. This will add those buttons to all your posts.
5. Insert File(s): Yeah… notice the (s)! That means, you can add multiple files into your blog of any extension (provided your blog allows them). This plug-in allows a maximum of three files to be added at once.
6. Quote of the day: I just discovered this plug-in while I was running my search. Now I have decided to use this and add one quote at least once a day. Very nice to have for personal blogs.
7. Template Plug-in: If you have a recurring piece of code, or some statements, advertising gestures to be written into your post, then this will help you add it to all your posts, without you taking the trouble to add it each time.
8. Delicious Notify Plug-in: Sends your blog posts details (URL, Title, etc) to delicious when you post. I have not used this plug-in but I feel it will be useful to those who want to.
9. SEO Slugs: For those who don’t know already, SEO means Search Engine Optimization and SEO Slugs are those parts of your URL which help in finding your pages and posts through search engines like Google. This will create a slug from any phrase or section of the blog post selected by you.
10. Snipping Tool: This integrates Windows Snipping Tool (Windows Vista and Windows XP Tablet only) into Windows Live Writer and able to insert screenshots directly into edited post. This plug-in invokes Windows Snipping Tool and after the snip created and tool closed, the captured image inserts directly into blog post, you are editing. I have Windows 7 and this tool doesn’t work. I use the Snipping tool independently, than integrated with Live Write.
